Iranian Chiropractic Association

History

IRCA has been the only officially approved chiropractic scientific body in Iran for over two decades, holding seminars, providing continuing education credits and implementing rigorous evidence based medical protocols based on the latest research available. Chiropractic is an evidence-based, non-invasive health care discipline that focuses on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems, primarily of spine but also including extremities. As primary care practitioners, Doctors of Chiropractic can directly accept patients, and following diagnosis they may proceed to treat, as well as coordinating with other medical professionals if necessary to best address their patients’ conditions. Doctors of Chiropractic incorporate many treatment methods including decompression, flexion/distraction, spinal manipulative therapy (SMT), soft tissue therapy and modalities such as laser and ultrasound. Doctors of Chiropractic address a wide range of health complications including neck pain, back pain, scoliosis and sports injuries. To be accepted into a Chiropractic professional doctorate program, there is a prerequisite of at least four years of university undergraduate study culminating in a BSc degree (Bachelor of Science). Following admission, the perspective Chiropractic students spend another four years studying at an accredited Chiropractic school, including one year of clinical internship. After graduation Doctors of Chiropractic may apply for a variety of post-doctorate residency programs including Clinical Neurology, Diagnostic Radiology, Sports Medicine, Pediatrics & Geriatrics.
